Uk Alpaca Luxury Alpaca Hand Knit Yarn (Double Knit/Worsted spun yarn 100g/265m approx)
70% fine UK Alpaca /30% Blue Face Leicester wool
Moss = Main (M) x 2 50gm balls
Mustard = Contrast (A) x 1 50gm ball
Parchment = Contrast (B) x 1 50gm ball
1 pair 3.75mm(US #5) needles
1 pair 3.25mm(US #4) needles
4 Buttons
1 45cm (18 inch) cushion pad

Pattern Notes
Abbreviations
tw2p = purl next 2 sts together, then purl into the first stitch again, then allow both loops off left needle together.
Stitch Pattern 1
Row 1: With M, k3, *tw2p, k2, repeat from * to end.
Row 2: With M, purl to end.
Row 3: With M, k1, tw2p, *k2, tw2p, repeat from * to end.
Row 4: *With M, p2, with A p2, repeat from * to last 3sts, with M, p3.
Row 5: With M, k3, *with A, tw2p, with M, k2, repeat from * to end.
Row 6: As Row 2
Row 7: As Row 3
Row 8: As Row 2
Row 9: As Row 1
Row 10: *With A, p2, with M, p2, repeat from * to last st, with M, p1.
Row 11: With M, k1, with A, tw2p, *with M, k2, with A tw2p, repeat from * to end.
Row 12: With M, p to end.
Stitch Pattern 2
Stitch Pattern 2 is worked exactly as Stitch Pattern 1 but the colours are reversed.
ie. Work A instead of M, and M instead of A.
Stitch Pattern 3
Work the following 14 row stripe sequence in stocking stitch commencing with a knit row:
2 rows in A
1 row in M
2 rows in B
3 rows in M
1 row in B
2 rows in A
3 rows in M
Front
Using 3.75mm(US #5) needles and M, cast on 115sts slightly loosely.
Commencing with Row 1 of Stitch Pattern 1, repeat the 12 rows of the pattern until work measures approx 45cm (18 inches) finishing with a WS row. Cast off.

Lower Back Panel
Using 3.75mm(US #5) needles and A, pick up and knit 115sts along cast on edge of cushion front.
Purl 1 row. Right side now facing.
Commencing with row 1 of Stitch Pattern 2, repeat the 12 rows of the pattern until work measures approx 22.5cm (9 inches) finishing with a WS row.
Using M, change to 3.25mm (US #4) needles and work rib as follows:
Row 1: (k3, p2), repeat to end.
Row 2: (k2, p3), repeat to end.
Repeat these 2 rows once more. Cast off in rib.
Back Cushion Flap
(knitted sideways)
Using 3.25mm (US #4) needles and M, cast on 70sts.
Work rib as follows:
Row 1: (k3, p2) repeat to end.
Row 2: (k2, p3) repeat to end.
Repeat these two rows once more. Change to 3.75mm (US #5) needles and A.
Commencing with row 1 of stripe pattern and a knit row, work 4 rows.
Maintain stripe pattern as set.
Make buttonhole:
Next row: k2, cast off 2 sts, work to end.
Next row: p66sts, turn, cast on 2sts, turn, p2.
Patt a further 34 rows. Make 2 nd buttonhole. Patt a further 34 rows.
Make 3 rd buttonhole. Patt a further 34 rows.
Flap should now be 10 rows shorter than length of cast off edge of front panel.
Work final buttonhole on next two rows. Work 4 rows. Change to 3.25mm (US #4) needles and M. Work 4 rows rib as set. Cast off in rib.
Border
Using 3.25mm (US #4) needles and M, pick up 115sts evenly along buttonhole edge of flap.
Work 4 rows in rib as for Lower Back Panel. Cast off in rib.
Making Up
Darn in all ends. Block pieces.
With RS together, sew top of flap to cast off edge of Cushion Front. Still with RS together, and with flap UNDER Lower Back Panel, sew side seams together.
Turn cushion right side out.
Mark button positions.
Sew buttons in place.
