Crochet Bolster Cushion

Materials
300gm aran (worsted)weight yarn
We used:
6 x 50 gm of Patons Spritz
4.5mm crochet hook
Bolster cushion pad approx 18 inch x 18 inch
Finished Size
18 inches (45 cm) long by 27 inches (69 cm) wide approx.
Tension
Not critical, measure work against cushion pad to fit.

UK Abbreviations
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
htr - half treble
tr - treble
dtr - double treble
cl - cluster (5 trebles worked into same stitch)
US Abbreviations
ch - chain
ss - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet
tr - treble
cl - cluster (5 double crochets worked into same stitch)
Pattern
Circular End Pieces ( Make 2)
Make 5 ch, join into ring with a sc (ss)
Round 1. 3ch, 15 tr (dc) into ring, 1 sc in 3rd of 3ch at beg of round. (16 tr (dc))
Round 2. 3ch, I tr (dc) in ch at base of these 3ch, 2 tr (dc) in every tr (dc), 1 sc in 3rd of 3ch at beg of round (32 tr (dc))
Round 3. 3ch, 2 tr (dc) into next tr (dc) (1 tr into next tr (dc), 2tr (dc) into next tr (dc)) 15 times. 1sc (ss) in 3rd of 3ch at beg of round (48tr (dc))
Round 4. 3ch, 2 tr (dc) in next tr (dc) (1 tr (dc) in each of next 2 tr (dc), 2 tr (dc) in next tr (dc))15 times. 1 tr (dc) in next tr (dc) 1sc into 3rd of 3ch at beg of round.
Work 2 more rows as in round 4 working 16 extra tr (dc) on every round Last row. Htr (hdc) in each tr (dc) join at end of circle with a sc (ss).
Fasten off.
Main Piece (Make 1)
Make 65 ch
Row 1 3dtr (tr) in 5th ch from hook, *skip 3 ch, 1dc (sc) into next ch, skip 3ch, 7dtr (tr) into next ch, rep from *to last 4ch, skip 3ch, 1dc (sc) in last ch, turn.
Row 2 4ch, 3 dtr (tr) in first dc (sc), *skip 3 dtr (tr), 1dc (sc) in next dtr (tr) (the centre dtr (tr) of 7) skip 3 dtr (tr), 7 dtr (tr) in next dc (sc), rep from * ending with 1 dc (sc) into 4th of 4 ch, turn.
Rep row 2 until work measures 24 inches. Work 2 rows evenly in dc (sc) across top edge. Fasten off. (This creates a wavy edge)
Rejoin yarn to bottom edge at right hand corner work 2 rows dc (sc) evenly. Fasten off.
Cluster Stitch Edges (Make 2)
Work 1 row dc (sc) evenly along longest edge of main piece.
Cluster row: 1ch, 1 dc (sc) in 1st dc (sc) *1 cl in next dc (sc), 1 dc (sc) in each of next 2 dc (sc), rep from * to last dc (sc), work 1 dc (sc) into last dc (sc).
Next row: 1ch, work 1 dc (sc) into each st to end.
Work last two rows again, fasten off.
Making up
Wrap main piece with cluster stitch edges attached around bolster cushion, this should overlap leaving wavy edge uppermost, slip stitch into place.
Slip circular end pieces to main piece to finish.
Aruba Blue Notes:
This pattern is a little more challenging, working in clusters and shells. I love texture!
This project doesn't need any other trimmings. A useful addition to the home, any aran weight yarn will do!
